We are saddened to report that John recently passed away. –Updated Dec. 2, 2022
Pianist, John Boyd writes, “In 2020 and 2021 [my wife] Helen had a successful bout with cancer, but going through the process one cannot be sure. I approach challenges with composing. I had already composed, “Time on My Hands,” a piece originally meant to be improvised, but I wrote them out for my friends. Then I composed, “Waiting” while Freddie, our chihuahua, and I waited in the motel during her surgery. Then during radiation and chemo I composed, “Hoping.” Finally, when declared cancer free, I composed, “Gratitude.” It sounds like a spring bubbling out of the ground, much like my emotions came out.”
