Sharing Christ Through the Arts

COVID 19

There’s a long limousine
at the head of the pack
that’s taken more dreams
than it can bring back.

There are more body bags
than I’ve ever seen,
at the tip of the spear
of COVID 19.

For the young and the old,
their stories are told
of long weary nights
with no one to hold.

The nation they loved
did not intervene
in the weary days
of Covid 19.

But we will survive
despite their neglect,
with nurses and doctors
who have our respect.

They’ve given more love
than we’ve ever seen
in the darkest days
of Covid 19.

Surrender your prejudice,
give up your pride.
We won’t kill the weak
so hate can survive.

Every heart matters
in this grisly scene
of the dead and the living
with Covid 19.
